Backpocket can run without an account or a bank connection. This page explains what is collected when you use the planner, sign in, or use AI chat.
What we collect.
The planner uses the card names, dates, rough spending, travel goals, and preferences you provide. Backpocket never asks for bank credentials, full card numbers, or statement imports. If you create an account, we store your email address, authentication session, subscription state, and any household profile you choose to save.
Analytics and diagnostics.
We use PostHog for product analytics, browser error reporting, web performance, privacy-configured session replay, and AI observability, and Sentry for operational error reporting. Form inputs and network request headers or bodies are not recorded in replay. When you sign in, your account email is attached to your stable PostHog person profile so we can connect support and debugging context. Ordinary card-planning inputs are not added as person properties.
AI chat.
When you use AI chat, the question, computed wallet context needed to answer it, model response, token use, latency, and errors are sent to the configured AI provider and recorded in PostHog AI observability for debugging. For signed-in users, those traces are connected to the account profile. Deterministic card checks, wallet audits, and verdict math do not use an AI model.
How we use and share information.
We use information to run the product, authenticate accounts, save requested data, process subscriptions, answer questions, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioral advertising. Service providers process only the information needed for hosting, database, email, payments, analytics, error reporting, and AI chat.

You can use the core planner without an account. To access, correct, export, or delete account information, email support@withbackpocket.com.
